*Meir Bar Ilan* has a BA and PhD from Bar Ilan University, followed by a Postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University. He has taught for forty years in the department of Jewish history and Talmud, where he served as chair, at Bar Ilan University (named after his late grandfather). His research focuses on Jews in Antiquity and is the author of seven books and 130 academic articles. Meir served in the Yom Kippur War and the First Lebanon War, in which he was injured, losing one of his legs. Meir is married to Miriam and they have 5 children and 18 grandchildren.
