ABSTRACT
Although cognitive behavioral therapy for psychosis (CBTp) is effective and recommended by several clinical practice guidelines, it remains insufficiently accessible within French-speaking settings. The Departments of Psychology, Psychiatry, and Addiction Studies, in collaboration with the Centre for Pedagogy at Université de Montréal, have developed a digital training program for both future and practicing mental health professionals. Designed to foster the development of knowledge, professional attitudes, and applied clinical skills, this 45-hour online French-language training aims to promote a comprehensive understanding of CBTp theoretical models, mastery of both foundational and advanced clinical competencies, and the implementation of appropriate coping strategies. The program comprises 3 components that integrate narrated slide presentations, formative self-assessments, and summative evaluations leading to accreditation. The first component, fully asynchronous and self-paced, focuses on core CBTp skills. The second introduces the theoretical foundations and clinical practice of group-based CBTp. The third addresses the clinical complexity associated with common challenges encountered in individual CBTp. Components two and three adopt a blended format (synchronous and asynchronous) and include role-plays and supervision sessions (via videoconference or in person) to support conceptual integration and skills application. This techno-andragogical innovation is expected to enhance the accessibility of CBTp by training specialized psychotherapists. It also aims to improve the overall quality of psychosis care by facilitating the acquisition of CBTp-informed skills and competencies among non-psychotherapist mental health professionals.
